Taking a new step forward to the next 50 years to come!Jun’ichi Araki, President, Mesco, Inc.On February 17, 2014, MESCO celebrated the 50th anniversary of foundation of the company. We cordially express our sincere thanks to all our dear customers, shareholders, and partners for their dedicated and continued support extended over the years ever since the start of our business.
We have accumulated technologies and experience over the period of 50 years by carrying out a number of construction projects both in Japan and overseas since MESCO was originally established as Sankin Kiko Co., Ltd.in 1964 with 5 million Japanese Yen in capital. In the meantime, we merged Mitsui Kinzoku Kyushu Kiko Co., Ltd. and Kamioka Mining Engineering Co., Ltd. with MESCO for consolidation as one company, while on the other hand we established our business bases overseas in North America and Asian countries (Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, and others) for responding to ever-growing global needs.
In a bid to diversify our operations, in 1982 we acquired a materials business specializing in soundproofing materials and shielding materials, used for radiation shielding applications, etc., and further in 1988,we affiliated a pipe business engaged in planning, designing, manufacturing, and installing piping systems composed mainly of high density polyethylene pipes. Both these business units have now grown to be fully-fledged contributors to MESCO’s business.
We are currently focusing our efforts on the following actions to take as the first step to be achieved by 2020 as part of our 50-year vision. Such actions include, for the Engineering Division, enhancement of the technologies and knowhow accumulated so far and improvement of our customers’ trust as well as boosting sales of items sourced from overseas, with the Global Business Management Division, newly set up in July, 2014, as a core operative unit for managing such actions,in order for us to become a truly global and comprehensive engineering company. For the Pipe Business Division, the actions include securing further orders for infrastructure development projects, with the Tokyo Olympics to be held in 2020 on focus, for disaster preventive piping system projects, and for marine application projects, as well as development of new materials by product differentiation.
The Materials Unit is committed to establishing itself as the number one supplier of lead plates for the soundproofing and radiation shielding applications and at the same time to developing new markets for the medical applications,
thereby expanding its business scope.
MESCO’s management policy is “Putting Our Customers First”, “Being Creative and Taking on Challenges”, and “Taking Joy in Our Work”. We, MESCO, will continue to provide our valued customers with technologies and services of the highest possible level, seek new technological development and business opportunities, and strive to grow further as a company filled with pride and enthusiasm that appeal to our customers. We aim to take further steps toward the upcoming 50 years and would sincerely appreciate your continued support and attention. Thank you again.
